Where It All Began
La Espiguita Foods was born from the legacy of La Espiguita Bakery — a family-run business known for its handmade Colombian baked goods and Latin American favorites.

The bakery was founded in 1998 by the matriarch of the family — a determined entrepreneur who began by selling empanadas out of her car while managing a successful house-cleaning business. As demand for her food grew, she followed her true passion and opened the very first La Espiguita Bakery.

Today, the bakery remains family-owned, with two locations in Central Islip and Brentwood. Its commitment to authenticity, freshness, and tradition continues to inspire everything we do at La Espiguita Foods — the distribution company created to share these beloved recipes with more communities, restaurants, and stores.

Our Journey
La Espiguita Foods began with a vision: to make the flavors we grew up with available in more places — not just bakeries, but in supermarkets, restaurants, and wholesale accounts across the region.
While the bakery focused on tradition and community, we focused on growth — bringing the same beloved recipes to a wider audience through fresh-frozen distribution.
Today, we proudly deliver Latin American baked goods and snacks made with care, using authentic recipes passed down through generations. Everything we distribute is made in small batches at La Espiguita Bakery, then packed and prepared by our team at La Espiguita Foods — and we’re just getting started.
